Capsule SF 2008, Hayes Valley

CAPSULE is a twice a year design festival that creates a market for original, and inspired creations. Drawing 800 festival-goers, CAPSULE has since grown into the largest marketer of independent designers in San Francisco, creating a force that is starting to pull independent designers from the Los Angeles, Portland and Seattle regions. This year’s CAPSULE shows will be hosting 160 designers in Hayes Valley, in May and October, drawing an expected 6,000 shoppers per show.

San Francisco is at the center of a consumer movement to support original independent design. CAPSULE’s design festival is at the center of the San Francisco independent design community, providing Bay Area designers with a rare opportunity to come together for Northern California’s largest festival for independent design.

  • Fashion Show @ Lime

You’re invited to a new monthly fashion event at Lime. Enjoy expertly crafted cocktails and small plates in this lounge environment and take in a runway show features up and coming local fashion designers. This month features Sweet Marie by Kaylin Marie Andres and Busted by Jany Nicole.
Shows are at 11:30 and 12:30.

Visceral excess is the inspiration behind Sweet Marie’s newest collection entitled “Precious Metal”. It is a study in contrasts- handmade metallic leather gloves paired with delicate floral silks, exaggerated silhouettes, and massive knit chains that seem to engulf the wearer. With this collection, Sweet Marie shows us that she is indeed worth her weight in gold.

Busted was created by JanyNicole in June of 2007 on the strip-club filled streets of north beach San Francisco. JanyNicole came to the city two years ago and since then has been drawing inspiration from the local party scene to create styles that make you want to take your clothes off have a pants off dance off. Busted features bold uses of color and provocative silhouettes to make garments bursting with energy and oozing back alley sex appeal. Intended for the party crowd, the line shows a clear appreciation of the city’s street art and club scene.

5th Annual Fashion On The Square

Fashion On The Square (FOTS) is the most highly anticipated and largest outdoor runway fashion extravaganza on the West Coast. In celebration of its 5th consecutive year, FOTS will rip the runway again on Saturday, July 19th on Union Square Park in San Francisco.

This is not just another fashion show but rather, “a fashion explosion of the best in design wear,” as the show has gained critical acclaim as the “show stopper” in fashion history. FOTS will choose 8-10 of the best designers nationwide feature on the runway on July 19, 2008. Models will ‘rip the runway’ with style, energy and flare. Media, from television to print, will be close to the ‘red roped’ area to catch what is sure to be the fashion event of the year.

Union Square is third largest retail space in the country. During the summer months, the Union Square Association reports that daily foot traffic in Union Square Park exceeds 10,000 tourists. From the newest retail expansion of Westfield’s Bloomingdale’s, H&M and Barney’s NY, Union Square sits right in the middle of each of these very sought after shopping destinations. Union Square Park is also surrounded by signature stores such as Chanel, Gucci, Neiman Marcus, Saks, Macy’s West and many others.
